Public Consultation and Engagement

The MTR Corporation believes that the views and support of the community are essential for the development of railways. To formulate a scheme that best meets the needs of the communities, we have been closely communicating with the respective district councils, rural committees, local communities, and representatives from the residential developments and schools along the alignment.

Ten Community Liaison Groups (CLGs) were set up as a channel for communication with the local communities, namely West Kowloon, Hoi Wan Road, Tai Kwok Tsui, Sham Shui Po, Kwai Tsing, Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun, Kam Tin, San Tin and Pat Heung.

Membership of the CLGs includes local district council members, representatives from respective area committees or rural committees, local resident representatives, and representatives from government departments. The progress of the Express Rail Link will be presented regularly in CLGs. The inaugural meetings for CLGs were held in March 2010, where it was determined that CLGs will meet on a quarterly basis, or as needed.

Information Centres for the Express Rail Link have been set up for enquiries and updates. A project hotline is available for public enquiries.
