Destinations and Train Frequency

Starting at West Kowloon, High Speed Rail connects Hong Kong with the National High-speed Rail network of over 25,000km.

This new service significantly reduces journey times and cost for travel between Hong Kong and major Mainland cities!

Short-haul destinations


For short-haul journeys, the “Guangzhou – Shenzhen – Hong Kong” High Speed Rail will connect Hong Kong with 6 stations, they are Futian, Shenzhen North, Guangmingcheng, Humen, Qingsheng and Guangzhou South. Among these stations, Guangmingcheng and Qingsheng are newly added intermediate stops.



Short-haul train frequency


During the peak operation period, there will be 114 pairs of short-haul trains running between the above six stations, in which 84 pairs of trains will stop at Futian and Shenzhen North stations, 30 pairs to stop at Guangzhou South station. Certain trains running between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Guangzhou South Station will have intermediate stops at Guangmingcheng, Humen and Qingsheng.

In the initial stage after the service commissioning of the “Guangzhou – Shenzhen – Hong Kong” High Speed Rail, the train frequency is as follows,

Around 10-20 minutes headway from Hong Kong to Futian
Around 10-20 minutes headway from Hong Kong to Shenzhen North
Around 15-30 minutes headway from Hong Kong to Guangzhou South



Long-haul destinations


For long-haul journeys, the “Guangzhou – Shenzhen – Hong Kong” High Speed Rail will connect Hong Kong with the National High-speed Rail network and provides passengers with direct access to more destinations through the "three verticals, one horizontal" trunk lines. "Three verticals" refer to the Beijing-Guangzhou Passenger Line, the Hangzhou-Fuzhou-Shenzhen Passenger Line and the Guiyang-Guangzhou Passenger Line, and the "one horizontal" is the Shanghai-Kunming Passenger Line.

The High Speed Rail will connect Hong Kong with various cities in the Mainland, including Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, Guilin, Hangzhou, Guiyang, Xiamen and Shantou, etc., with a total of 44 destinations.

For long-haul trains, there are 13 pairs of trains daily, running between Beijing, Shanghai, Changsha, Kunming, Shantou, Xiamen and Fuzhou.

*This is the travelling time for the three daily direct train pairs to Guangzhou South without any intermediate stop. Depending on the number of intermediate stops, the traveling time for other trains to Guangzhou South ranges from 50 to 71 minutes.
